ACCEPT Ambassadors

ACCEPT AMBASSADOR:

As we all know, ACCEPT are traveling the world and visited about 48 countries in 3 years, several times. They are known for their very close and personal connection to their fans. And yet – due to their busy schedules, they are not able to really get to know what they are longing to know about the countries they visit. ACCEPT feel so connected to other cultures and people, always distinguished themselves as world citizens and live and think without borders, always have, always will.

Therefore, ACCEPT nominated one AMBASSADOR for each country, who is the representative of his/her country to us and our Representative in his/her country. His/her duty is to be a role model as well as give us information about their country, the culture and anything that is of importance to them. The AMBASSADOR should invite as many friends and fans to contribute and share their world with all of us. Welcome to this exciting adventure…

Although it is quite a small island (population approx 63 million) compared to the rest of the world, there is much to say about my home, the United Kingdom. I live between Chesterfield (home of the Crooked Spire) and Sheffield (the Steel City) towards the North of England.

Of course there is so much to say about the UK that can’t all be said here! Steeped in history, the UK boasts magnificent places of historical interest, such as a multitude of castles, ancient ruins, fascinating structures (such as Stonehenge, Hadrian's Wall, the Giants Causeway) and many, many areas of natural beauty, for example Loch Ness in Scotland and the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia in Wales.

There is much folklore and many myths and stories intertwined with Britain – tales of giants, mermaids, piskies, fairies, leprechauns and not forgetting the legends of King Arthur and Robin Hood.
The UK is also world famous for industry, such as steel, construction and coal mining, though of course that has declined today.

Thanks to our rather precipitous weather, we can be proud of the lush green landscapes that make up our stunning countryside, along side fantastic national parks rich in wildlife (although reduced in size in many places, due to the ever expanding population).
It doesn't end there - we have the beautiful coastlines with their many seaside resorts, still upholding many British traditions such as fish and chips, donkey rides for children on the beach and funfairs, even in the inclement weather!

The British have always known how to entertain and enjoy themselves throughout time; dance halls, theatre, concerts and of course 'the pub’ - an age old institution, where friends meet up for a chat and a drink in cheerful (or sometimes not!) surroundings. Going way back in time and up to the modern day, ale or beer were and still are hugely popular drinks, with many specialist brews now on offer. I have to mention, even though this isn't really about music, that of course the roots of heavy metal were born on this tiny island, with legends such as LED ZEPPELIN and BLACK SABBATH, who paved the metal way for the many artists of today.

Many parts of the UK have their own special dish or product which defines them, for example; Cheddar cheese from Somerset, Cornish pasties from Cornwall, haggis from Scotland, Irish whisky, Yorkshire puddings…the list could go on forever. Not forgetting to mention the popular 'cuppa', the answer to all problems - a nice cup of tea! Good old fashioned English breakfasts (or a 'fry up') and roast dinners are traditions still popular today.
With our hugely diverse society with its many cultures, there is never a shortage of choices of world cuisine to choose from when eating out.

Sorry for the late reply, I've had trouble accessing here! The castle is Conwy Castle in Wales :)
