As a fellow member of the Ambassador Forum, I want to welcome all of you here as well! I’m seeing a lot of familiar names of friends I have come to know from fan clubs and forums all over the internet and beyond through our mutual love and respect for the band ACCEPT.
Long-time fans of Accept may have noticed something very different in their current logo. Along with the twin flaming Flying V guitars, there is an image of a Phoenix rising. Some may wonder how the two are related, but to others, it’s quite clear.
This is an era of new beginnings.
According to Greek mythology, the spectacular, beautiful Phoenix is a bird that obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. It symbolizes immortality, resurrection, and life after death. One having survived the hardest of times to become even stronger can surely associate with this beautiful symbol.
ACCEPT is a band that has persevered throughout the ever-changing and evolving world of music, heavy metal in particular. That period of time in which we all thought they were gone forever was dark, indeed. But, as the Phoenix, ACCEPT rose from the ashes and are reborn--fiery, stronger, and heavier than ever. Now, with the current lineup—Wolf Hoffmann and Herman Frank on guitars, Peter Baltes on bass, Stefan Schwarzmann at the drums, and Mark Tornillo at the helm on lead vocals—they are on a mission that has just begun! And it only gets better.
It is always a great time to be an ACCEPT fan, but perhaps never more so than now. Not only do we have a rich musical history to draw from and enjoy, but there is more beyond the horizon! With the world opening up to each other and connecting like never before—through social media, forums, and the like—we fans have forged a bond of community that is much like family. Yet, our diversities, as well as our similarities, make us strong.
We are from all over the world, from all walks of life. We are the fireman, the mechanic, the student… the bank teller, the nurse, the engineer… the journalist, the artist, the owner of a corporation… the teacher, the homestead CEO… the photographer, the biker, the street musician… the teen with a dream and a band of his or her own… the dad, the mom, the grandpa, the grandma, the child! Well, you get the gist—and if I failed to mention your area of employment or expertise, it is not to exclude or to overlook you—rather, I hope you will share your personal Phoenix story in your own special way.
In this new era, more and more people are experiencing that special kind of magic we have come to know, as ACCEPT travel to countries in which they have never been before. So, too, many fans with a nomadic urge travel great distances to see their favorite band. Or, perhaps they are curious about the homeland of the friends they have made. We are discovering that there is much to know about each other, beyond the music that has brought us together.
The Ambassador Forum is not simply another place in which to discuss the music. Actually, that is not the main focus here! Rather, this is a place for all of us to get to know each other and the countries in which we live. Each Ambassador has been chosen to represent his or her country while introducing fellow Ambassadors and the band to such things as:
the rich histories and heritage
the customs and cultures
dignitaries and noteworthy people
the fads and trends
and of course the music…
… but it certainly doesn’t have to be limited to those things. The topics and possibilities are endless. In the process of this privileged opportunity, we can learn much—and in doing so, celebrate our commonalities while respecting each other’s differences. We can dispel the stereotypes and knock down barriers, to get to the real essence: We are all connected; we are all One.
Together, we can make this a great success!
